I was told to stay behind, the way I'm always told to stay behind,
and I have never once, in my whole life, been good at staying anywhere I wasn't allowed to be needed.
I followed anyway, quiet, the way he taught me, without meaning to teach me that specific skill.
I told myself I was only watching. I have never once only watched anything in my life.
